A late morning visit to LWT Red Hill on Friday 3 September. Only a few flowers now remaining in the 2 meadows (especially the larger meadow), or in the field across the road, which accounted for the absence of certain butterflies. However, the following were noted :

Small Heath - 26 (mostly in the field across the road)
Common Blue - 18
Brown Argus - 7
plus lower numbers of :

Meadow Brown
Speckled Wood
The 3 Whites
and certainly no sign of a faintly hoped-for Clouded Yellow or Wall :( (both seen here in previous years).

Regards,

Freddy (with son Alex )
