Earlier today, I received an email from Peter Cawdell, Chairman Lincs Branch of Butterfly Conservation :

" Jane Ostler rang me yesterday am. to say her adjoining neighbour had just reported a CB on his Buddleia in his Colsterwith garden. He went in to get his camera but it had gone on his return. Jane didn't see it to confirm but she says he knows a bit about butterflies and he described the creamy yellow edges."

Whose garden will it end up in next? Do check those Buddleias. :D

Freddy:

Interesting report because on 24th July my colleague Steve Hall was carrying out a butterfly monitoring survey on Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR and had the fleeting glimpse of a possible CB flying over. Steve is good on butterflies and the sight of a large dark coloured butterfly with cream edges to the wings made him look twice but as always the butterfly was soon out of sight!!

Best wishes

Peter
