A male Brimstone was flying around my BBH garden in the sunshine midday today (Monday).......my first butterfly of 2017.....to start the celebrations for my 85th year. Freddy |

Nice one Freddy! By coincidence, whilst eating lunch today, we also noticed a Brimstone in the garden. This too is our first garden butterfly of the year. Regards Roy |

........and today (Wed 15th) : 3 x Small Tortoiseshells nectaring on Bowles Mauve and Winter Heather. plus male Brimstone revisits. Freddy |

Am hoping for an increase this year/s, a mate as given me a dozen different packs of wildflower seeds ranging from Vipers Bugloss to Purple Loosestrife and another wild flower which have always wanted to grow Birdsfoot Trefoil. Kind regards Max |

Good luck with your seeds, Max. Butterflies are certainly attracted to purple plants. Hopefully, you might also attract a passing Common Blue or two as the larval foodplant is Bird's-foot Trefoil. Best regards. Freddy |
