June 1st: Speckled Wood - 1
June 13th: Speckled Wood - 1 on lilac, holly and fushcia

Had hoped for much better. Maybe I've got too many trees but the shrubs certainly outnumber the trees. I've had the Callicarpa seven years and for some reason its got its act together, its full of tiny berries.

As yet not planted the wild flower seeds, but just acquired five herbs including compact Sweet Marjoram, tricolor Sage, garden Mint, Lemon Verbena and Rosemary. The front and rear gardens are full of color and its a delight to sit in the garden.

July is Gatekeeper month and the Johnson's Blue Geranium is waiting :)

Regards

Max

Hi Max,

That's a great July list especially the Gatekeepers, Commas, Peacock and Common Blue. At least this month we have had some decent weather to attract butterflies into our gardens. I see from your list you've had several Red Admiral visits - I think this year is a good 'Red Admiral year'. Perhaps we''ll get more Painted Ladies in August.

Best Regards,

Freddy
PS. I haven't had a Hummer so far this summer but, like you, I live in hope.

Seems to be a lack of GV White this year.

Not to spoil my report end of this month but Freddy will be pleased for me again, with August only 11 days old and another visit from you-know-who plus pics :D

Kind regards

Max

Don't suppose it was the same Speckled Wood visiting but never had any visit that long, it wasn't going on the same thing all the time, noticed it on the holly, magnolia, geranium, wall, path, buddleia, laurel and fuschia. Well pleased to get photos of the Gatekeeper even though its wings were closed, it was on the magnolia.

Seeing these lovely creatures cheered me up no end, one day I hope to get wheels and get back to the hobby I love.

Kind regards

Max :D
