It's great news how the Red Admiral is hanging on in widely-spread LIncs sites this year well past mid-October. They have been appearing regularly in my garden in BBH this month whenever the sun shines ( despite some strong winds and a paucity of nectar sources) : eg. (recently) two on the 17th (plus a Comma), one yesterday and one again this morning (21st). Some members with sheltered gardens and abundant nectar sources such as Ivy flowers, Michaelmas Daisies and late-flowering Buddleia will have recorded much larger numbers.
