A White Admiral was an unexpected sighting in the north of the county at Irby Holmes Wood, near Irby Upon Humber, this afternoon.

Top Lincolnshire lensman Roy Harvey was able to film the butterfly soon after the initial sighting, so hopefully some pictures will be uploaded soon. If more details are needed of the precise location, feel free to PM me.

Cheers,

Steve

Having just disturbed a bees nest in a compost heap that I was moving I didn't need much pursasion to leave my garden today !
After getting the message from Steve I made the fifteen minute journey to Irby and found the White Admiral exactly where it was last seen. It showed well for a few minutes then flew over a hedge and disappeared. However, after a short absence I located it again in the original spot.
From the images it appears to be a well worn individual.
A White Admiral has also been at Kilnsea in East Yorkshire for the last couple of days.

Roy.
