Garden alive with butterflies and insects today
20+ peacocks on buddleias
16 painted ladys
2 red admiral
5 small tortoiseshell
4 comma
1 holly blue
3 common blue
5 meadow brown
1 small copper
3 gatekeeper
3 small skipper
50+ whites, green veined, small and large, mostly on lavendars
50+ silver y moths, everywhere
hundreds of bees and hoverflies, and 2 common darters.
i have noticed there are some small painted ladies as well as the usual size.

Hi Colin,

That's a great selection of butterflies for today - 14 species.
I am still waiting for my first garden Small Copper and Common Blue this year. Your flower and shrub plantings have obviously brought results.
Good luck with any planned new butterfly plants for next year.
