Zebra Butterfly - Heliconia charithonia - state butterfly of Florida since 1996. Found in southern USA, Caribbean, Central and northern S. America. So obviously a genuine vagrant pushed across the Atlantic in a deep depression or yet another escape from Nottinghamshire :twisted:

Yep - that's what it is - popular with garden centres cos it's cheap to buy
the pupae and they flutter around the plants so prettily
Someone local must have bought a few and let them loose
