I think most gardens are getting back to normal butterfly-wise with the recent warm and sunny weather, mine included.
Today (Tuesday) :
Holly Blue - male and female
Red Admiral
Peacock
Comma
Gatekeeper
Meadow Brown
Large White
Small White
Green-veined White
plus
Small Tortoiseshell
and a small Skipper in recent days (11 species).
I am sure members can add further to the list.
Also an emergence of flying ants to keep the local Starlings busy.

Butterfly numbers are well down this year thanks to the atrocious weather, this time last year my garden was swamped with butterflies, a total of only 11 for the year so far, i was really looking forward to this year with all the buddleias blooming but it has turned out awful. not a single hummingbird hawk moth (last year 23) not even a silver y moth , last year they invaded the world as someone stated.
Not even a single dragonfly or damselfly. I hope things improve soon as some of the plants are fading.

Let's hope a few days of sun and warmth will really bring a turnaround butterfly-wise in the garden. As you know,Alan Titchmarsh, Monty Don et al. have encouraged us all to plant lots of drought-resistant flowers and shrubs -well, mine have been swamped in the persistent rain we've had!
Anyway, August and September CAN be prolific butterfly months, so let's live in hope and look forward to some fine weather....there are still plenty of "usual" nectar sources around.

More butterflies in the garden today than of late, but still a total of only 12 :
3 - Painted Ladies
2 - Red Admirals
5 - Small Tortoiseshells
1 - Comma
1 - Small White

After the somewhat depressing news at the end of July, Colin P.probably has better news to report and also Max, perhaps, has had increased numbers in his garden recently.

3 buddleias are still in flower, white profusion and 2 yellow ones,
11 red admirals highest count, 2 painted ladies, 3 small tortoiseshells, 2 peacocks, small whites and the occasional comma and speckled wood.
No surprises this year.
