Risby Warren: mid afternoon

The place was humming with them. Most I've seen this year!

Green-vein White - quite a few
Small White - similiar
Large White - ditto
Meadow Brown - a couple
Ringlet - loads
Small Heath - 4
Large Heath - 1
Small Copper - a couple
Red Admiral - 2
Gatekeeper - loads
Small Skipper - a few
Speckled Wood - 1
Large Skipper - 2

Appleby: late afternoon

Ringlet
Green-vein White

Also had a Brown Argus at Risby yesterday. It was certainly alive with large numbers of butterflies both along the public footpath and on the heathland itself. Great to see.

I totally agree, not seen as many butterflies since visiting Butterwick Hale last year. It was such a joy to see so many.

I could even have seen you but having never met you before not sure what you look like.
