Risby Warren: mid afternoon The place was humming with them. Most I've seen this year! Green-vein White - quite a few Small White - similiar Large White - ditto Meadow Brown - a couple Ringlet - loads Small Heath - 4 Large Heath - 1 Small Copper - a couple Red Admiral - 2 Gatekeeper - loads Small Skipper - a few Speckled Wood - 1 Large Skipper - 2 Appleby: late afternoon Ringlet Green-vein White John |

Also had a Brown Argus at Risby yesterday. It was certainly alive with large numbers of butterflies both along the public footpath and on the heathland itself. Great to see. regards Chris |

Great to see. regards Chris I totally agree, not seen as many butterflies since visiting Butterwick Hale last year. It was such a joy to see so many. I could even have seen you but having never met you before not sure what you look like. Cheers John PS: Graylings were seen by another guy but not me, I didn't venture south. |

Risby Warren. 03/08/08. Cloudy and breezy. Butterflies sighted today 27 grayling meadow brown gatekeeper small heath ringlet small skipper large skipper small copper common blue brown argus peacock red admiral comma small, green veined and large white small tortoiseshell Colin Pumfrett. |
