Lots of butterflies on the wing today in the warm Spring sunshine. Sightings are as follows:

Immingham Dock
Small Tortoiseshell - 2

Humber Embankment (Long Strip Wood, Immingham Dock - Pyewipe Mills, Grimsby)
Small Tortoiseshell - 15
Peacock - 2
Small White - 1

On returning home the garden produced a further 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 1 Peacock and a surprise in the form of a Large White, my earliest record for this species. Shortly afterwards, a walk across the fields nearby and taking in Freshney Marsh and Town's Holt produced 38 Small Tortoiseshells, 13 Peacocks and a single Comma.

Regards

Dave
