The uncommon Goldenrod - Solidago virgaurea - flowering well at Walesby today 9/9/05. Picture in album (thanks to Roy Harvey for advice).

A couple of people have asked me if this is the same plant they get in their gardens - the garden form is Canadian Golden-Rod (Solidago canadensis and its related hybrids and varieties, from Canada as its name suggests). It also grows as a garden escape in many places. Solidago virgaurea is a native plant, with larger flowers, which is much less common.
Cheers, Steve
