90% sure bird I saw at A15 / A52 roundabout was a Black Kite this morning at 08.40hrs.

Being mobbed by frantic Lapwings (defending young) it flew off NW very low!

I thought that I saw a black kite some weeks back near Edenham - I didn't report it because I thought that I may have been mistaken. So I'm glad to read that somebody else has seen one!

I read throu these submissions of black Kite and im totally baffled by the comments?Black kite is easy to id if seen well, this rubbish about dark marsh harrier is c***,it is a totally different bird,in stucture, wing shape, flight profile,-e.g. hold its wings down when low over ground-like a heron, nothing like a harrier or buzzard, anyone whos well aquainted with buzzrads and especially marsh harrier is gonna know they are on to something different-do not be afraid to say what you have seen!!!these people in linc who do not wish to believe it its their problem-not yours!!!as for goshawks-well barton on humber, seems to be the place to see em,from what ive heard, not breeding that far away.

I was talking to a man at Manby Flashes who said he had a Black Kite recently by the rubbish tip near the Louth bypass, I don't know the site and havn't checked it out. He seemed to know the difference between Red Kite, Black Kite and Marsh Harrier but don't think he's a keen birder.
Anyone want to check it out?
Geoff

I think he's saying that if it IS a Black Kite (don't ask me - I can't tell a barn owl from an England flag tied to a post!) then it's a good day for birding in Lincolnshire.......

Just to add to the chat - I didn't report my black kite sighting as the bird I saw looked to be a tad smaller than a red kite (I see a lot of red kites as I travel between Stamford and Corby everyday).

Definitely a kite - deeply forked tail, very dark coloured, but not as big a wingspan as most reds. I saw it from my car window and by the time I has stopped it had gone. I spent 20 minutes with the glasses but couln't relocate it.
