The two juvenile Goldfinch's that arrived at my feeder two weeks ago have been joined today by another three!

The young Jackdaws are feathering up nicely but alas one youngster has been toppled out of the nest and didn't survive the long drop from the hollow, high up in the Walnut tree.

Swallows are still very busy but despite a daily check I still can't see if the nests have any young, just too high up on the eaves of the barn.

Tree Sparrows are mating but I didn't observe any juveniles in the garden from 1st time around!! Maybe, unlike the House Sparrow, these are just late starters?

The local 'wild' tabby cats are still on the prowl despite my best efforts to discourage them (they aren't even bothered by my dogs), saw one struggling with a female pheasant at the weekend which presumably it had caught and killed in the fields Found another Wren nest at the base of my oil tank, two cold eggs and looking very deserted - another victim of the cats possibly??

Three young Blackies this morning sheltering from the rain, under lilac tree outside kitchen window, while mum searched for food.

This week in my garden I've seen young blue tits, great tits and coal tits. It's the first time I've seen coal tits, adults or young, at this time of year in the garden.

Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker found dead on my front lawn last week only an hour or so after I had mown the lawn. Plenty of feathers about & had been partly eaten - all the looks of a Sparrowhawk kill other than body being left on site.
Also 2 Linnets singing on theroof for 15 minutes or so - often seen around but this was also unusual.

Loadsa ickle wee ducklings on the lawn just now! TWO SETS! Counted at least 12!

Three kestrel fledged on the steelworks today accompanied by both parents, pics to follow in album

Ducks used my Dad's large seed tray as a swimming pool at teatime!

Had six young Starlings this morning.

Watched the antics of four young Blue Tit this morning, first they went on the cotoneaster hanging upside down looking for insects, then they went on the nyger feeder, finishing off on the honeysuckle. Then spotted a young Dunnock hiding in the lilac. Lastly two adult Blackies gathering food for theri young, not sure of the number, but other day saw three young ones.

'Tis 'Deja Vu' with a second wave of fledglings - Chaffinch, Goldfinch and House Sparrow young are all back at the feeders, Blackbird and Mistle Thrush having a great time pulling worms out of the water drenched lawn.

Over the last two days had one young Blackie doing it's best to hide from the neighbourhood moggies, plus three young Goldfinch on the nyger feeder. Yesterday morning at 3.45 saw two adult Blackies on next doors lawn.

Juvenile Mallards returned yesterday and spent nearly the whole day in the garden!

A family of Treecreepers chasing around North Somercotes Warren this afternoon. To see one is nice but a whole family is something special.
