Still present this evening, flew into trees near Ram farm 5.30pm and stayed in that area till i left at 7.15pm, seen in flight several times, couple of Buzzards as well in area.
PS
Is growing a new central tail feather, this can be seen given good views, so adds to the cleft tail appearance in flight sometimes.

Black Kite still present in the Ram Farm area at midday in poor weather. Good prolonged views as it sat on a telegraph pole whilst preening.

Also in the area:
1 Hobby (observed eating a House Martin)
4 Marsh Harrier
3 Common Buzzard

regards

Chris (with Keith Scott & Tony Housman)

I have at last got round to comparing the right primaries of the Nocton bird with the Barton bird and that from North Norfolk in the spring---to my eye they are identical and it must be the same bird as the rich coloured underparts and very pale head would have suggested---it would be an interesting excercise to get all of the reliable Norfolk, Lincs, Yorkshire dates together from this spring and summer and see if just the one bird has been involved with all the records

Along with 15-20 other birders, I had very good views of the bird on a ploughed field south of Ram Farm this evening(Sat). It remained on the same spot with occasional preening from 7.00-7.45pm at least.
Plus 2 Marsh Harriers around.

Regards,

Freddy

Andy S - thanks for the call on this - typical, a local find when I am in Finland!

Presumably this is still about - anyone got a grid reference for where it has been shwoing recently?

Thanks
Matt

Bird reported again this evening on "Birdguides" at 18.48 some 2.75 miles WSW of Nocton at Nocton Heath just south of Bloxham Lane/Grange Lane junction TF 017634.

Freddy
