A visit to the Turbary this evening (from 7.30pm to 9.45pm) produced a sighting of a male Nightjar. I had thought that the habitat was suitable but was surprised and very happy to actually see one there. It was swooping around over Steve's pond, viewable from Steve's Hide from 9.35pm onwards (around the same time that the bats came out). Other sightings were: Green Woodpecker, 2 Juvenile Little Grebes Moorhen Heron Probable juv Buzzard Kestrel Mallard Jay Numerous Woodpigeons Numerous Rooks Wren Heard Tawny Owl (The reason we went was to try to see the Owls) Heard Willow Warbler Heard what sounded like a Peacock - presumably one of the nearby farms has one unless anyone else knows a bird that sounds like a Peacock.
