The Lincolnshire Bird Club

I believe I may be one of the longer servng and one of the older people of the club,I'm not much good at bird watching and sadly a bit reclusive.
When I first joined I could not use a computer,my wife has gradually been teaching me and it was not until ealier this year I realised you people actually met up at other places other than Horncastle.
With this in mind,I am trying to say this group gives me immense pleasure in the sightings, comments and beautiful photography, which occasionally leads to me and my wife going around to try to see some of these birds.
Please don't start arguing,let that young lady from Boston keep on enjoying herself, and all the rest of you keep you wonderful postings for me to read,wish I knew how to do a Smilie thing

Well said Bernard.
Those that cause the disputes on this forum are fortunately, very much in the minority. I am able to put faces to the majority of the regular contributors which does help somewhat when reading what has been written. What I can say is that some of them - when applying fingers to the computer keyboard, give entirely the wrong impression and if you meet them they are highly personable and amenable people. 'Birddog' is one contributor that often springs to mind when we talk of the odd 'hiccup' and disagreement on the forum. When people meet Roger they cannot believe what a pleasant fellow he is, but he really must curtail his habit of getting all fired up late at night - usually after downing a few pints of John Smith's bitter!
I hope that the combined efforts of forum members will continue to bring you pleasure.

As the newest member - joined LBS a couple of weeks ago and thanks to Andy got on here yesterday - I echo the above.

For a while have enjoyed the posts and feel obliged to try and put something back. Thanks for whoever gave details of the dowitcher and especially the diver at Thurlby. Was great to have the opportunity to see these local birds.

Have no doubt met some of you in my wanderings. Met Edmund a few weeks back in a hide at Gib. His bike was outside the visitors centre when I was there on Tursday but the last I saw of him was the bike heading north very rapidly so he obviously remembered me

From my experience of many different forums it is the membership which determines its worth and in my,and many others opinion, this is very good - so thanks to you all.

Thats calling the copper kettle black,cmon max,you ve been amongst it all on many occasion!!!,Roy-its sam smiths!!!anyhow ill keep off this forum off late at night.!!!-Best for me and everyone else..thou it is a forum and i will still cmon in but am instead of pm!!!.a lot of people are nice who get rialled up on here.,when you meet them,....e.g...Gpc,Max,uniommystic(,etc to name a few.........

For once I am in total agreement with Bernard and all the subsequent comments . Now I am aware that Sam Smith has been a regular late night contributor I will look to his future threads with interest. From personal experience, Charles Wells' "Bombardier" gives a much more mallow feeling!!

I've enlightened you on lots of things. You have a serious problem with reception ! Hearing aids are available, but you are frightened of spending one penny on improving yourself. (or spendind one penny on ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER). I must learn to curb my laughter though !

Is it the wilderness, or are you frightened of encountering the ghost of that WW1 RAF pilot who has been observed emerging from the "swamp" by local residents on several occaisions !

In regard to spending my money on anything, you seem to have forgotten the money I spent on buying you bags of shopping etc, becuase I felt sorry for you.

What about all the free trips out over the past four years.

Regarding Hatfield Moors: you know the real reason I don't like going there, and that's because there are no seats, unless I take my own. And that goes for Crowle Moor, there are no seats anywhere, and it's about time LWT and English Nature did something about it. I'm fed up of asking LWT about the lack of seating.

I'm another one - for the reason that I am totally, utterly and severely phobic of snakes! I had pencilled in a visit to gibraltar Point, as someone had reassured me that there weren't many of them there. I then saw one on Paul Hudson's 'Nature of Britain' slot and now I'm back in the 'too frightened to go' zone again!

Should we put this one to bed now ? its going on a bit and getting slightly off topic !
