At long last, I have a birdwatching report for you! :D

TIME - 13:10 - 15:25
CONDITIONS - boggy underfoot, overcast, poor light.
COMPANY - Dad in last 10 mins.

Plenty seen despite the conditions.

30 Shelduck
Usual Mallards
70 Wigeon
20 Greylag Geese
400 Canada Geese - the place is getting over-run with them!
2 Barnacle Geese
500 Brent Geese. No light-bellied or Black Brant seen
1 Domestic (white) goose
6 Little Grebes

Enormous flock of Lapwings - about 2000 I'd say
5000 - 6000 Knot on shoreline
About 60 Curlew - 50 on wetland, 10 on lagoon banks
10 Redshank
1 Turnstone in winter plumage
7 Black-tailed Godwits
2 Little Egrets
1 Grey Heron

20 Black-headed Gulls
4 Herring Gulls

6 Blackbirds
4 flocks of Starlings
1 Robin
1 Wren
2 Blue Tits
Mixed flock of Goldfinch, Chaffinch and Greenfinch
4 Tree Sparrows

Kingfisher seen by someone else

No owls :(
No raptors :(

I was there a little earlier.
A huge flock of Golden Plover towards Witham mouth. Good views of a male Merlin sat on a post from the wetland trail. 4 Little Egrets and on the sea 7 GC Grebes,5 RB Mergs and 2 Eider.
