Chris
pleased to here it was active but it was in a very relaxed mode when i was there.
It was not a place where you could pullover and view the road is very narrow at that point, people were honking to get past but as i scanned i kept coming back to what i genuinelly thought was a smaller bird with a slender shortish neck and caught a very brief flash of yellow on the bill.
There were probably approx 25-27 birds in total in the bunch but the sleeping ones were very tight together so i could not be sure ( time permitting ) the total count so i only put down the mutes i could see feeding and this one i was sure was bewick. So i dashed of to the sound of cars honking not swans and lights flashing at me as well as a few gestures with just enough time to get home a quick report - changed and Newark by 18.00hrs. Phew, what a dash, but i notice there was only a few birds present in the evening so i wander if the bird i saw might have gone because among the other sleeping birds there could have been several whoopers or it could easily be me just not giving it time. Cheers Chris see you around Terry Whalin
