Just to update the situation.
Linda & I made a second visit to Far Ings at just after 6.00 p.m. on Saturday evening. The Night Heron was sat in the edge of the sallows at about 70 metres range and was about level with the top of the reeds. We decide to stay until dusk to see where it might go to feed. At 7.40 p.m. it climbed down into the reeds and disappeared. We then moved to Ness Hide to see if it might emerge into the channel but there was no further sign of it by 8.15.
John Harriman was on site at 06.30 on Sunday but the bird was not seen then and there were no confirmed sightings of it during the day.

Belated report for yesterday,as i couldn't log onto the forum.
The 1st summer Night Heron, was again seen by myself and other's,again at Far-Ings,in a similar area to the previous sighting's.This time it was seen at the end of the long causeway which runs north from Ness hide, and i watched it feeding here for about 10 minutes,it then flew back into the area from which it had appeared,to the right of the causeway,in dense willow scrub. It then repeated this again about an hour later.I don't know if there where any further sighting's.
It just show's how a bird like a Night Heron can be presumed gone, and after two week's with no sighting's,appear again.
Other good birds seen during the day where as follow's:
1 Brent Goose(Dark bellied).
1 male Ring Ouzel(Previously reported by Roy Harvey).
1 Sedge Warbler
1 Reed Warbler
4 Little-ringed Plover
4 Yellow Wagtail
1 Cuckoo
2 Avocet

Regards

Steve.
