Having not been for quite a while and reading on the big bird forum that two particular species of wader were present, one of which I hadn't seen for six years decided to go. Arrived at 13.15 and noticed not too many cars were there. The weather was sunny with a slight wind. After going to the visitor centre and paying an entry fee of £2 went in search of the waders.

The following is a full list of what I saw:

Little Stint - 1 [this is the main one I wanted]
Spotted Redshank - 3 [also this one]
Green Sand - 1
Black-tailed Godwit - c30
Common Snipe - 32
Dunlin - c20
Lapwing - c200
Avocet - 2
Moorhen - 4
Pheasant - 1
Kestrel -1
Mallard - 20 incl juvs
Teal - 5
Barn Owl - 1
Cormorant - 1
Crow - 1
Wood Pigeon - 8
Magpie - 1
Little Grebe - 7 incl juvs
Grey Heron - 4 incl juv
Mute Swan - 2
Greylag - 3
Marsh Harrier - 3
Swallow - 10
Water Rail - 1
Coot - 15 incl juvs
Ruff - c10
Redshank - c50
Greenshank - 7
Starling - 25

Butterflies

Green-vein White - lots
Small White
Small Tortoiseshell - 1
Peacock - 5

I left at 18.15 and had enjoyed my time there, plus the turkey sandwiches and flask of tea!

Kind regards

John
