Lunchtime visit to Greetwell Hollow LWT reserve (23 July) produced my first Painted Lady for quite a while together with:
Peacock 2
Small Tort 18
Meadow Brown 15
Gatekeeper 50+
Ringlet 12
Small Skipper 10
Small white 2
Large White 7
Speckled wood 1

Oh what would we do without Buddleia!!!
Cheers
Brian

Crikey dick John, the best I've had with Peacocks on my four buddleahs is five and I thought that was good. That would have been a sight to see, it's a wonder you could see any flowers

John

Their are 6 bushes forming a 20 m hedge John, and i leave the nettles underneath so they hatch under the nectar supply,in a good year i,ve counted a 160 peacocks and over 150 of other species. John.

Only my 3rd Painted Lady this year - on the farm track between Bracebridge Heath and Branston today, nectaring on Lesser Burdock.
Previously - 20 August Gibraltar Point
- 23 August Chambers Farm Wood Memorial Garden

plus only one Wall - at the Chambers Farm Wood Open Day on 3rd August and I have heard of no reports of Clouded Yellow as yet. What a 'summer'!

Regards,

Freddy
