A pleasant few hours - enjoying the Joe Duddington Memorial Garden and then looking for Hairstreaks along the Five Ways Route. 13 species seen but no luck with the Brown Hairstreak, despite extended searching along with Pete Smith and two others (up to 3pm). BUT one couple told us that they had seen (c1.15pm) a female Brown Hairstreak egg-laying, plus a male nectaring on Hedge Parsley, along the main track leading to Five Ways.

Memorial Garden :
Painted Lady
Peacock
Meadow Brown
Small Copper
Holly Blue
Brimstone
Large White
Small White
Green-veined White

Five Ways Route: plus
Purple Hairstreak
Comma
Red Admiral
Speckled Wood

Regards,

Freddy
