Pretty quiet but some unusual geese present:

1 Snow Goose
3 Bar-headed Geese
1 Hybrid possibly Barnacle/Emperor see discussion album
The above flew in with 50+ Greylags

Seen From Hides
1 Ruff
2 Knot
5 Dunlin
30+ Black tailed Godwits
1 Little Egret
1 grey Heron

I carried out a shore watch from 15.30 - 17.30 and again from 1900-2000
Again, good numbers of terns moving to roost.

Sandwich tern 3200
Common tern 700
Roseate tern 1 ad
Black tern 2 juv
Med gull 1 ad
Yellow-legged gull 3rd sum
Kittiwake 300
Gannet 40
Arctic skua 120 south
Pom skua 1 light phase adult, 1 probable juv.
Masrh harrier 3 juvs south offshore
Crossbill 1 south
Swift 1 south
Yellow wag 30 south
Tree pipit 1 south
Heron 2 in off the sea
Southerly movement of hirundines; swallow 2000, house martin 150, sand martin 220. Many landing on the beach - at one point c200 grounded birds dispersed by an arctic skua close in then 10 minutes later an adult hobby cleared the beach !

Did any of you regular visitors to Gib. Point see the colour ringed Little Egret?
I saw the bird on Sun. 25th around 1700hrs. I viewed from the Mere hide on the left hand side.
I could see a yellow ring on one leg and a red on the other. Sorry I can't give any more specific details only got a brief view before it disappeared behind reeds.
Had a look on Euring but couldnt find the ring combination.
