I had a call from a person in the village who had got a 'very large moth or butterfly' at his house.
I called round expecting to see a hawk-moth of some kind but was most surprised to encounter a 'tropical' butterfly that measured about 5.5 inches across its open wings.
I have put a photo in the album.
The insect was indoors when I saw it but when first found was on the outside of the window adjacent to the back garden of the property. The house owner has no idea of its origin.
Comments appreciated.

I am advised that this creature is in fact a Chinese Oak Silk Moth.
Most unlikely to have flown to Grasby from the Far East!
