Indeed, 153 is probably my highest ever count, although i reckon some of the south coast esturies will have more than that now. Little Egret now outnumbers Grey Heron locally by approximately 153-1. One flock alone consisted of 120 birds sitting out the high tide. Wish i'd had the camera with me.

Yes, along with a nice endorsement of the RSPB's policy on predator control!!

I remember seeing over 250 little egrets in Chichester Harbour back in 1999! At the time this was the largest roost known in the UK. I have notes of 70 on 13/8/05 and 138 on 22/9/05 in this area. Perhaps a paper for the Newsletter is called for once we've done the counts this evening and later in the autumn.

Chatting to Keith Scott at Grainthorpe yesterday, he estimated that there were at least 50 Little Egrets between Cleethorpes and Donna Nook.

I have to say it baffles me why egrets do not turn up at msq,only odd birds very irregularly.
