Case in point, although far less spectacular than an Amur Falcon.....

1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker in garden on peanut feeder attached to my new feeding station.

4th garden record for the last 2 years, so technically, it's a rarity!

Hi Katherine,it is alway's nice to get a first of any sort, especially the un-expected ones,no matter what the rarity status of the species,a few weeks ago i had a first at Worlaby i had'nt seen there before,2 Knot, now to anyone else that is a common bird but not on my patch,so like i said before birding is alway's full of surprises, and the main thing is to enjoy it,so keep up your garden watching as well as your visit's to other place's and who knows what will be the next species to surprise you.

Regards

Steve.

Surprise 2

2 Redshanks probing the mud banks of the Witham directly below Boston Stump!! Seen circa 15:00 as I went over the footbridge into town. Unmistakable by their call!!!!

Thank goodness I always carry my small binoculars in my handbag because, you never know.......

Surprise 3

No fewer than 3 Coal Tits at the Feeders this morning, munching on Bill Oddie's 'Garden Friendly' mix!
