The White-rumped Sandpiper put in a brief appearance again at Alkborough Flats on the morning of Sunday Nov. 30th. Unfortunately, this event was witnessed by just two people, one of whom was on a chance visit from Notts. Today the Flats were totally covered in ice and the only small waders seen were half-a dozen Dunlin. The rare visitor may well still be in the area so anyone with the time, and a great deal of patience, might like to try their luck. After four unsuccessful visits to see this bird I am, temporarily, admitting defeat!
