Made a visit up to one of my favourite areas in the country today,Wykeham Forest and the Troutsdale valley area,this is what we saw:
Wykeham Forest
1 Great-grey Shrike(A bit mobile, but showed well on it's chosen clear fell).
2 Brambling
Forge Valley
The usual common species,Nuthatch,Marsh Tit etc,and a Treecreeper which was feeding at one of the bird tables,the first time i have ever seen this behaviour.
Hilla Green/Troutsdale
1 Dipper
204 Chaffinch
1 male Goshawk over the valley,and was later displaying,and one adult female perched up in a spruce,giving stonking views through the scope!
2 drumming male Great-spotted Woodpecker.
Langdale End
1 male Goshawk(could have been the earlier bird,seen at Troutsdale),and a juv. female,seen really well over the car.
Male and female Sparrowhawk.
Wrench Green
2 Common Buzzard
What a day
,for anyone wanting to see Gos's well,i recommend visiting this area.
