I would like to echo Richard's comments. It's tremendous value and lasts for 3 hours plus - a great way of 're-living' many of 2008's birding highlights. Heaven knows how many hours of travelling, hanging about and actual filming were involved.
I enjoyed it in three sessions of c1 hour each .....well rationed pleasure.

You mention 're-living the experience' with video and for me that is what puts it apart from still photography. I take stills and will continue to do so, but seeing the movement of the bird, its behaviour, other birders, the surroundings - as well as hearing the sound in the background, takes you right there again!

Just been watching your dvd, have you ever thought about putting some commentary on your dvd, many have suggested that this would be much more enjoyable. In my opinion you still cannot beat photographs which you can refer to over and over again, unlike a dvd which is usually only played once.

In 2002, before producing my first Rare & Scarce Birds video, I thought long and hard about whether or not to include a commentary. I have many birding videos and DVD’s produced by others and frequently get annoyed by excessive and unnecessary remarks. When the commentary is by someone of the calibre of David Attenborough it is much more tolerable but when done by an amateur can be very irritating. With this in mind I produced my first video with the use of sub-titles to impart all the relevant information regarding the identity of the species, where and when it was present, the significance of the sighting, etc. etc. With some trepidation I sent it off to the Editor of 'Birding World' magazine for review and was delighted when it was ‘recommended’.
I have continued with the same format ever since and have only very occasionally received requests for verbal commentary to be added. In general the feedback has been extremely positive.
I do not regard video footage as an alternative to photographs but feel that the two can compliment each other. Still pictures enable the bird to be studied in detail whereas video captures the ‘essence’ of the sighting.
I would think that I am not alone in watching birding videos and DVD’s many times over rather than just once?
