Just looking at the lists and having struggled somewhat with Caspian Gull ID myself over the years I wonder how many genuine Caspian Gulls there have been in Lincolnshire? I have found two an adult and a 3cy in the last week with photos of both on my blog but I have seen very few photos of any birds on the LBC web site over the years since the species was first recorded (as a race in 1999)

Hi Graham

There is a photo of a 2cy bird at Gib in the 2006 Gib report. I felt confident about the ID of this bird after circulating photos to Kev Durose !

Otherwise, I have poor photos of an adult found here by Ed Mackrill and a good candidate for a 2nd sum bird at Gib in Aug 2007. Your posting has just reminded me to look out the photos of the latter - I will post them later for discussion.

Cheers

Kev

I have always struggled with Caspian Gull id which is why it is not on my Lincs List!! Made me feel a bit better when I hear that GPC has struggled in the past!! Looking at the availabe literature it would appear that a classic adult or a 4 toned 1st winter bird shouldn't be too difficult!!
