Always a pleasure to visit this reserve and today was no exception, viewing from 5 of the 6 hides made number counts difficult, some estimates are given.
Yellow Wagtails, 5, the previous evening the warden told us 160 came in to roost.
Pied Wagtails
Wood Sandpiper
Green Sandpiper
Common Sandpiper
Bearded Tits from 3 different hides
Spotted Redshank
Redshank
Hobby
Snipe
Ruff
Heron
Marsh Harrier
Dunlin
Sedge Warbler
Reed Warbler
Teal
Black Tail Godwits
Lapwing, many hundreds
Sand Martins, never seen so many, must be reaching 2,000
Water Rail, 4 seen from 3 different hides
Plus the usual bits and bobs

Plus an American trying to convince people that there was a Marsh Sandpiper out there, why I am not sure, for no one else could see it, even the warden

Cheers Mike Surr

I'd be thankful on seeing one! Not seen any at all for 5 or 6 years and that was on a Bearded Tit walk at Blacktoft.
