Just got back from my third holiday this year, a week in Wales.
My two lifers were seeing my first
Manx Shearwater during my first seawatching trip to Strumble Head on Wednesday and a
Meditteranean Gull that visited Saundersfoot Harbour on Monday.
Neither of those were the biggest highlight though. That came yesterday (Friday). Parents and I drove down to a place called Martin's Haven, and we walked on to the end of Wooltack Point to look at the place I shall (weather permitting) be spending two nights of next year's holiday on.
SKOMER ISLAND!!!
Oh my goodness, I was overcome with awe and wonder at the sheer rugged beauty of that place. So beautiful I was lost for words. From Wooltack I could also see Skokholm and I detected the faint aroma of
guano a la gannet in the air. I cannot wait for next year - this will probably be the most intrepid birdwatching trip I've ever done!
