New life in garden

On returning from hols spotted a juv Goldfinch on nyger feeder on it's own but tucking in to the seed, lets hope I get as many as last year.

Have seen in the garden today a plethora of baby greenfinches, house sparrows, starlings and blackbirds! I love the way they flap their wings really quickly when they're wanting some food from their parents! And the baby greenfinches - SWEEEEET!

It's the best May yet in our garden for fledglings!

This week the young uns have been a bit thin on the ground maybe due to the neighbourhood moggies...

Seen one juv Blackbird today being fed by the adult male and a few juv Starlings in front garden.

And still they come! All fledglings present and correct today!

Had at least 10 Starling fledglings in the garden as I had my tea this evening!

This past week seen three juv Blackbird in back garden trying to dodge the neighbourhood moggy, also a single juv Song Thrush which I got two decent snaps, two juv Greenfinch on the seed feeder, two juv House Sparrow in front garden underneath seed feeder with parents in attendance, two juv Goldfinch on nyger feeder and a few juv Starling over. So all in all a good week. Plenty of activity way above the garden with the Swifts and House Martins feeding.

PS: Today the 4th Aug had a juv Collared Dove and didn't have clue what the bird table was for other than sitting on it for an hour. It looked totally lost.

Yesterday had a pleasing sight with five juv Blackbirds all busily looking for food, three were close to the patio window and the other two were opposite on what I call the triangle. Then while I was watching them a juv Great Tit flew in the Photinia and a juv Blue Tit was feeding on the fat balls, and below was two adult Collared Doves picking up the Nyger had the Goldfinch had dropped. While all this was happening the moggy was asleep at end of garden, thankfully!

Yesterday while having breakfast spotted five juv Goldfinch with adults on the nyger feeder and a few juv Starlings on the fat balls. Not seen any juv Dunnock this year.

On Nyger feeder yesterday had seven juv Goldfinch plus a few adults. Most Goldfinch seen on feeder this week at one time is sixteen.

Yesterday had 19 Goldfinch on and below the niger feeder of which 11 were juveniles, also had a rare visitor in the shape of a juv Long-tailed Tit on the nut feeder, it didn't stay long. Also nice to see the Tits visit with 2 Coal, and a single Great and Blue. Two Dunnock came on Sunday hadn't seen any for months. Still have 20+ House Sparrows every day.

Yesterday had 33 Goldfinch on and below the niger feeder that's the best total since introducing the feeder. Also seen today two each of the following Blue Tit, Great Tit, LT Tit, Coal Tit. And six Collared Dove, five Blackies, one Dunnock, fifteen Goldfinch, fifteen House Spugs, four Greenfinch and a couple of dozen Starling. Not seen any Chaffinch lately. Saw six Spugs, Dove and couple of Goldies all trying to bathe at same time, only have an upturned lid of water butt but it does the business.

The trees are laden with berries so expecting hoards of Starlings to take advantage.

Having ones own little nature reserve is a bonus especially for those who can't get out [ I can most days just cannot be bothered ].
