Trip down to Hants to see folks 24 to 26 Oct 2009 Good to get a couple of morning visits to my old local patch (Highbridge water meadows north of Eastleigh). High-lights included 2 singing Cetti's warblers, little egret, 2 ravens, water rail, pair of stonechats, 3 grey wagtails, several lesser redpolls and siskins, singing chiffchaff and green sandpiper.
Attended a couple of Hampshire Ornithological Society (HOS) guided walks. One to Hayling Island produced 8 black-necked grebes in Langstone harbour, greenshank, wheatear, swallow, 30 little egrets and over 300 brent geese. The other walk (Shawford/Otterbourne area) produced several redwings, siskins, lesser redpolls, grey wagtails, stonechat, nuthatches and two clouded yellow butterflies. Cheers Brian
