Received mine yesterday, a very nice bird report. I wonder how many people will join / rejoin the LBC to obtain the bird report?

Got my copy today and it has to be said what a great improvement on previous reports, all the hard work has paid off, really like the layout and the multiple photos on a page, excellent stuff and congrats to all involved,as the above comments suggest, lets hope it does attract new members and old ones to re-join,it is only a small price to pay for a quality report and free use of this excellent forum.

Steve.

Its not free to use this forum thats why you have a breakaway site steve!!!people expect to use this site for free and then pay for the report if they need it!!,having said that,I agree with all the above, but must add many of the sightings of rare birds was kept down till this report!!Alkborough flats being the old can of worms ,that wont go away until their is a sharing of info that is expected in the birding fraternity, also it seems strange to me when you look on the page-highlighting main birding sites in lincs(back of report),alk flats is not mentioned,!!!congratulations to wayne gilliat also for getting on the raritys committee, gotta get a camcorder now.

Thanks for the positive comments so far.

The decision to include the “Main Lincolnshire bird sites” map on the back of the 2008 report was taken at the very last minute.

I did consider leaving it blank. I also consider putting a photograph on the back, but felt that the photographer whose image I selected might think that they were 2nd class being on the back of the publication, rather than on the front.

I therefore decided not to offend anyone, and reverted to the map which was designed in 2003-4? This image has been on the past 2 Rare and Scarce reports.

Roger is correct that there is no reference to Alkborough Flats on this map, because it wasn’t recognized as a birding site at the time the map was produced.

Roger, I would be very happy for you to suggest what should go on the back of the 2009 report? Alternatively I could add Alkborough Flats to the map? All suggestions welcome….

I hope this is a satisfactory explanation?

Andrew

If one of my photos was chosen to appear in the report I wouldn't mind where it was situated, I'd be pleased it had been included!

Regards

John
PS: I also enjoyed reading the report, it will make a good reference work.
