A wonderful first visit to this brilliant site, warm and humid and mainly overcast skies but a real pleasure all the same.

7 Pied Flycatcher
5 Redstart
4 Nuthatch
4 Treecreeper
4 Wood Warbler
5 Siskin (great to see juveniles and males in stunning summer plumage :D )
plus usual woodland birds.

Great shots Mandy. Padley Gorge was a favourite of mine when I lived at Chesterfield, so glad it is still producing good birding. I go to Sheffield at least once a week to entertain the grandchildren so I must take them to Padley for a session. (This means they can play in the stream by the ice cream van while I venture downstream!)

Hi David,

Thanks! Yes the ice cream van was there and lots of paddling youngsters. Thankfully the woods were relatively quieter :D

I am surprised I had never been to Padley or even heard of it, I am Sheffield born and bred and spent a lot of my childhood visiting Derbyshire at weekends. Was very impressed with the place and Im looking forward to returning there soon. A really great day out.

Mandy

Follow the gorge up the valley out onto the open moors and cross the A6187 Hathersage Road and and you may be lucky enough to get ring ouzel under the rocks to your right
