I called in at Chambers Farm Wood today (Sat) and again a male Siskin and a juvenile Siskin were on the Nyjer seeds.
Ron Fox is quite certain that Siskins have been at least weekly visitors to his feeders since the New Year and recently there have been 2 males and 2 juveniles visiting regularly (more than just weekly). A pattern, apparently, repeated from 2009.
Despite this further suggestive evidence, some would say that these recent males were not necessarily the ones visiting earlier in the year.
Others would add that the 2 males and juveniles could originally be from a nesting site further away and a. have now settled at Chambers to enjoy Ron's seeds, or b. are now commuting regularly to Ron's feeders from further away.
Then again, others would say that Siskins have bred at Chambers Farm Wood this year.
Regards,
Freddy
