Its about ten years since I went to Lesvos. It is a magic place and Mandy your photos brought back pleasant memories of good birds, feta cheese, fried sardines all washed down by Retsina or Amstel
I just wonder how much it has changed as the area between Skala Kalloni the East and West River and the Saltpans were magic. It a gorgeous island with lots of varied habitat that begs to be explored. You did remarkably well considering you had no transport

Thanks Chris! It was indeed a magical place, but then Greece is, I have been to the Greek Islands a dozen times but this was my first visit to Lesvos. It does appear to be very unspoilt and I really enjoyed it, despite the not so good weather!
A new road is being constructed alongside the salt pans at Kalloni so lots of HGV,s and the like but it didnt seem to be affecting the birdlife to any great extent. I shall definately go back there sometime in the future. It was quite difficult not having transport but it is fabulous walking country and it helped to burn off all that delicious food!

regards
Mandy
