Hi John,
Only two years ago we were delighted to hear of your MBE for services to Nature Conservation - now Natural England have let you go!! As a fellow 60 something I can tell you that retirement is highly recommended - you might get a chance for some birding trips abroad!! Seriously, anyone who knows you will wish you a very happy retirement and thank you for your invaluable contribution to Nature Conservation in Lincolnshire.
Stuart

Many thanks for those kind thoughts Stuart, sadly with a considerable drop in income i will have to reduce my travel to far away places , but will do one more trip to India as its my most favourite country, people, food, and wildlife venue i,ve ever visited. regards John.

John,
Further to our recent exchanges of pms ( re Peregrines...and Waxwings ) , with your kind comments and good advice, I would very much like to add my own best wishes for your future retirement. As Stuart has so rightly said, we retired ones - despite what a lot of younger folk think - are not exactly languishing in God's Waiting Room. I've still got two years of middle age left before I reach 80 and I hope to enjoy them to the full. :D :) [-o< ....now, for a start, where's that file on Spotted Flycatchers....Oh ! and that application form for the Skydivers' Club ?

Freddy

i will beat that peregrine stooping, event ! all the best John.
