We haven't finished the Spotted Flycatcher 'season' yet, it's not the 1st April, I shouldn't think for a moment it's an escaped caged bird, and I can't believe it's the forerunner of another irruption, but the following report was on BirdGuides today (Wed) :

" ... Waxwing - BUCKS - Medmenham...

- one photographed on the Bucks (and Berks) banks of the Thames at SU 797837 last Saturday (13 August) "

Could it be an injured bird that was unable to migrate in April/May but could flap around and feed locally ? Interestingly enough, the very latest BirdGuides Waxwing reports in England were both of singletons in Bucks on 20th and 21st May in the Hughenden Valley, only c.10 miles N of Medmenham.

Pity the report is not closer to Lincs but, anyway, perhaps I should be keeping a sharp lookout on those fruiting Rowan trees from now on...... :D
