To be honest. Until I recently became an RSPB volunteer, I did not know of the excistance of a
'Humber Management Scheme', formed to protect one of the most important estuaries in Europe and designated as a 'European Marine Site'.
After speaking to other Linc's birders recently I have also assumed that many more LBC members may be unaware of this scheme and and it's associated web site at.
http://www.humberems.co.uk/index.phpThe site has interesting bird related info. with many links to other European Marine Sites, Species, Local Organisations, Habitat management, etc.
Of interest to all who want to protect the environment from abuse. I also found a section with a
'Recreational Activity Reporting Form' for use by the public to report any damaging recreational activities taking place.
http://www.humberems.co.uk/projects/incident.phpHere one can report any activities that may damage the wildlife or habitat in the humber estuary:
e.g:- Bait Digging: Dog Walking: Jet Skiing: Quad Bikes: Angling: Cockle Gathering: Plant Gathering: Horse riding: Model plane flying: and
Yes! even Bird Watching .
