My last minute decision to take a day off work paid off handsomely!
Frieston Shore 0645 - 1015 1 Pomarine Skua just after 7 and reasonably close. Landed in sea and eventually flew off south. 3 Arctic Skuas (north) 150+ Gannets -bizarrely north 1 Manx Shearwater flew right in to Witham Mouth then all the way out again 1 Osprey - over 1 juv Marsh Harrier 10+ Whimbrel Good assortment of common waders. 8 Yellow Wagtails 1 Chiffchaff singing by hide 100+House martins 50+ Swallows 10+ Common and maybe 20 Sandwich Terns
Gibralter Point 11.00 - 1500hrs Cracking views of a Barred Warbler on the east dunes Quite a few Goldcrests, Chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers and 1 Blackcap. 5 Spotted Redshanks 15+ Greenshanks 4 Ruffs 1 Avocet 3 Whimbrel
A beautiful warm sunny day with lots of good birds and butterflies.
