The last 3 nights I have heard Little Owl nearby. My last record locally was 6 years ago but no evidence of breeding. I was however able to confirm a breeding pair at Butterwick 3 years ago in a disused farm building although this has since been converted into a house and as a consequence the Little Owls have moved on.

This afternoon 23 Fieldfares in Hawthorn trees at the rear of the garden my first record for this autumn. Their strongly gregarious habits and the harsh call together with the mist and damp conditions confirmed to me that winter is approaching very quickly.
