It is with great sadness that today I report the death of Alex Parker.

One of the great characters of the Lincolnshire birding scene, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A very very sad day....

What a great shame. The news has come as a big shock to the many of us who were hoping that he might have been on the road to recovery.
R.I.P. Alex, you will be sadly missed.

Lincolnshire has today lost a great birding ambassador and a true gentleman. Alex will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He may be gone but his memory will live on for years to come. RIP.

That is so sad. I am greatly upset by this sad news. I didn't know Alex for very long but he made a big impact on me. My life is that much richer by having known him

Although I only met Alex once at Bardney Lock in the company with Dean and his dad, I found him to be a pleasant and informative chap.

Very sad to hear of his passing. RIP

A sad day indeed, we shall miss him very much.

In all the years we had the priviledge of knowing him no-one ever said a bad word about him. We have all lost a dear friend and Lincolnshire is a poorer place without him.

I've known Alex for almost all of my birding life but one time stands out. I picked him up in Boston early on 29th Oct 1976 to go to Fen Ditton, Cambs for a Sociable Lapwing. We spent all day searching Lapwing flocks in countless fields. By mid afternoon Alex and I were the only birders left and we were rewarded half an hour before dusk when the bird flew over our heads and landed in the field next to us. I'd have given up if he'd not been there. His relentless good humour and quiet determination made a dismal day pass with ease.
This is a big loss of a lovely man.

Alex was one of LWT's longest serving Voluntary Reserve Managers at one of the Trusts oldest reserves, Friskney Decoy. Our Gib Team were due to help him with some work there this month. We will really miss him. I loved hearing about all of his travels - not just the birds - he was a real all-rounder with a passoin for plants and invertebrates too that took him widely around the UK as well as abroad.

An excellent fellow. No matter what the birding was like it was never dull when Alex was around. He was a real character and leaves a void that will not be filled.
