I have just heard on the 7 o'clock national news that a gamekeeper from the Blyton area has been convicted of poisoning 2 Buzzards. Robert Hebblewhite laced a pheasant carcass with carbofuran (a highly toxic pesticide) and the Buzzards were found nearby. I didn't catch the penalty imposed but it's a very good result on two counts - it reached the National News and convictions for such an insidious offence are few and far between. Well done to the investigators/prosecutors for securing a conviction. No doubt we will hear more details in due course.
