Had a walk across the fields and mud on a real windy day to Boultham Mere Virtually the first thing I saw was the bittern flying in from the oft and landing in the reeds beyond the raft Other highlights were willow tit 2 on the feeders egyptian goose 2 in field to the left from the bridge over the catch water drain lesser redpoll 12 close to the Mere (hardly saw one last year but have been regular small numbers in my garden since Christmas) great spotted woodpecker 1 plus one in the garden this morning - first for several years skylark 2 kestrel 1 gadwall 22 pochard 7 tufted duck mallard 4 coot 28 black headed gull 22 common gull 2 great black backed gull 1 grey heron 1 cormorant 2
