Had a day off work and decided to head over to Freiston Shore for the High Tide and ended up staying seven and a half hours - it was that good. The wetland area at the moment is superb holding huge numbers of birds. On with the sightings:
Sea: Red-throated Diver - 1 Diver sp. - 2 Great crested Grebe - 1 Goldeneye - 6 Eider - 12 Red-breasted Merganser - 13
Saltmarsh (at High Tide) Mallard - 2 Wigeon - 2 Teal - 10 Shelduck - 37 Dark bellied Brent - 174 Turnstone - 1 Black-tailed Godwit - 1 Curlew - 11 Redshank - 63 Dunlin - 170 Oystercatcher - 600
Lagoon: Knot - 1 Golden Plover - 1 Dunlin - 2 Black-tailed Godwit - 5 Curlew - 5 Redshank - 8 Turnstone - 11 Grey Plover - 14 Lapwing - 270 Oystercatcher - 358 Goldeneye - 6 Tufted Duck - 26 Teal - 28 Wigeon - 197 Mute Swan - 16 Canada Goose - 33 CanadaxGreylag hybrid - 1 Little Grebe - 4
Scrub: Tree Sparrow - 2 Reed Bunting - 5 Linnet - 40
Saltmarsh: Hen Harrier - 1m headed out over saltmarsh towards Cut End area
Wetland Area: Pale bellied Brent - 1 Dark bellied Brent - c3000 Shoveler - 94 Pintail - 114 Teal - 114 Wigeon - c2650 Ruff - 1 Black tailed Godwit - 29 Redshank - 42 Dunlin - 80 Curlew - 102 Lapwing - c430 Golden Plover - c1200 Little Egret - 3 Sparrowhawk - 1f
Reservoir: Goldeneye - 3f including a very striking leucistic bird, very sandy and pale Tufted Duck - 6
