Yesterday I came across a Montaque's Harrier at Winteringham, reasonable distance when first seen, but soon went out of view, then appeared going away from me more distant, appeared to go over the humber to the north side, been back today (all day,no sign).
features noted, small white rump, brownish wings with grayish primaries black wingtips, light underneath when banked only once,i gave this description to a birder who has seen the blacktoft bird and considers it to be similiair if not the same bird.
Did not submit yesterday due to Trojan horse i collected from Facebook!

the description sounds rather a good fit for a male Marsh Harrier Roger? - I must assume that you saw a lot more on it than suggested here to confirm as a Montagu's; and adult male is clearly ruled out so would have to be a 2cy male -- greyish primaries and black wing tips, is this not the same ie the primaries also form the wing tip and all the outer primaries are black in an adult Monty while a 2cy in August would have a mix of juv and adult primaries but would tend to have the old outers retained and inners replaced; no mention of tail pattern or colour?
