Drove round the area this morning - wet and blustery so not ideal - but couldn't find any sign of the shrike. Could still be around of course and will try later in the week. I took the first sharp bend in the road to be at SK985310 - wasn't sure of the reference to Burton le Coggles - should this have been to Boothby Pagnell? Had one distant raven over Kirton agency. Buzzard and couple of jays at Ingolsby wood coner.

Also checked out the site at Folkingham (and roads in between) where gt grey shrike the previous winter (or was it two years ago - haven't checked my notes?). Nothing there either.

Vin

Don't know why I wrote 'agency' above - oops - should have been Kirton wood of course.

Checked all potential sites along the road this afternoon (23rd, 1530-1600 hrs). No sign of a Shrike. large flock of 60ish Fieldfares, nothing else of note. Didn't have time to check the Folkingham site near Eddie's farm shop
